Sam Newman to come off air?
Last nights Footy Show may well have been Newman’s last. After a clip regarding the Tasmanian bid for their own AFL team was played, Sam made remarks concerning the female businesswoman featured. After declaring her worthy of coming onto the show, he not-quite under his breath muttered something along the lines of “and it’s worthy of coming on her”.
Having been suspended from the weekly sports/comedy show previously this year for making sexist remarks, one has to wonder how long Newman has left before his bosses give him his marching orders.
sam is an ignorant, uneducated dope out of his depth on live television. his intellect does not allow him to ad lib without resorting to smut, the refuge of all barbarians.
Sam will be sacked by the end of the day. The PC autocrats that now run the media will be baying for blood. I’ve enjoyed Sam over the years, the only true intelligent guy to ever play afl. I really hope he tells them to fuck off this morning. I was appalled to watch him capitulate to Nine’s bullshit demand of coercive ‘therapy’ with some idiot fembot shrink. It was like watching a man who has had his success and his millions who now needs to learn to see he is working in a hostile environment, an antiseptic shitty PC media sphere, and it is time to get the hell out and live out your last years in peace while those cancer cells divide.
My God, was I distressed to see he didn’t tell them all to get fucked in May. He should have left when Eddie left. Brayshaw is a PC lightweight I hate him. Lyon is too. Overexposed.
It’s sad. He should have done 1994-2004. That would have been enough. The guy now taints his legacy, not because he is inherently fucked up, because he stuck around in the hostile environment too long. An open mic and a spoken mind are not allowed in this society. This button down piece of PC shit society can get fucked. Private life is the life for me. Public life is a feminized vipers nest of PC shit. I wish sam well in his wealthy retirement. Maybe he can get back to racing some cars.
Yeah, Sam had it going on once, but I think that as he aged he confronted something in himself and he became increasingly assholic. It’s embarrassing, like watching a beloved, once-funny-uncle ruin a family wedding with their outdated mode of humour. Sam just isn’t funny anymore, simply irritating, or at best, a sad caricature of his former self.
I hope he doesn’t get sacked – I hope he leaves, and enjoys the rest of his life instead of getting sucked into the whirling cesspool of self-indulged and self-obsessed celebrity …
That’s pretty much how I feel, Vicky. He’s just so behind the times. Sexist, racist, and he refuses to change. He used to get away with it, all cheeky-like, and I admit that he entertained me. These days it’s just embarassing. He brings the whole show down.
